1. Who we are
Mondego Move is a free, independent app for the Metro Mondego metrobus in Coimbra, Portugal. It is not affiliated with Metro Mondego, the Municipality of Coimbra or any government entity. The app is developed by Nicolo Stanciu (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the personal data described here.

This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have. You can use the map, timetables, trip planner, fares, events and business listings without creating an account.
2. Information that stays on your device
- Location. If you allow it, the app uses your location to show where you are on the map and centre the map near you. Your location is processed on your device and is not sent to us.
- Preferences and saved items. Your language, theme, pinned trips, notification history and similar settings are stored on your device.
- Translations. Event and business descriptions are translated on your device using the operating system’s translation service (Apple Translation on iOS, ML Kit on Android).
3. Information we collect
3.1 Usage analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, for example which screens are opened, when the app is opened and which choices are made during onboarding. Firebase assigns a random app-instance identifier and collects device and app information (such as device model, operating system version, app version, language and an approximate location derived from your IP address). Analytics data is not linked to your account, is not used for advertising, and is not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
3.2 Push notifications
If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging gives your device a push token and subscribes it to the topics you choose (for example service alerts, timetable changes, new events or business promotions). If you are signed in, your push token is stored with your account so we can notify you about your submissions.
3.3 Favourite events
When you favourite an event without an account, the app creates an anonymous Firebase account so your favourites can be saved. It contains no name or email address. If you later sign in, your favourites are moved to your account.
3.4 Account (optional)
You only need an account to submit an event or list a business. You can sign in with Apple (iOS) or Google. We receive a user identifier, your email address and, if the provider shares it, your name. If you use “Hide My Email” with Apple, we only receive the relay address.
3.5 Content you submit
When you submit an event or business, we store what you enter: titles, descriptions, dates, opening hours, the location you pin on the map, website, contact details and photos. Published content is visible to everyone who uses the app, except organiser contact details marked “admin-only”, which are only visible to our moderators. Every submission is reviewed before it is published.
4. How we use information
- To provide the app’s features (accounts, submissions, favourites, notifications).
- To moderate submitted content and contact you about your submissions.
- To understand usage in aggregate and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal data, show ads, or share data with data brokers.
5. Service providers
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Analytics), provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. Firebase privacy
- Sign in with Apple and Apple Push Notification service (Apple). Apple privacy
- Google Sign-In and Google Maps on Android (Google). Google privacy
- Apple Maps on iOS shows the map; Apple may receive map requests as described in Apple’s privacy policy.
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Legal bases (GDPR)
We process account and submission data to provide the service you request (performance of a contract), analytics and moderation on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving a safe app, and push notifications on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the app or in your device settings.
7. Retention and deletion
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Settings, tap your account, then Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, your businesses and their photos. You can also email us to ask for deletion (see Support).
- Published events you submitted may remain visible after account deletion unless you ask us to remove them.
- Analytics data is kept according to Firebase Analytics retention settings (at most 14 months).
- You can clear your notification history and pinned trips in the app, or remove all local data by deleting the app.
8. Your rights
If you are in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Contact us at the address above. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (cnpd.pt).
9. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
10. Security
We use Firebase security rules and encrypted connections (HTTPS) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
